Altitude: 915 m/3,000 ft - 2,800 m/9,190 ft Distance: 8 km Hiking Time: 5-7 hours Terrain: Montane Forest Your adventure starts early with a briefing, followed by a hearty breakfast. After a short drive from Moshi to Umbwe Village, your guides and porters will prepare your gear and provide a packed lunch. Your ascent kicks off at the small Umbwe Gate, leading you through a dense forest of rubber and fig trees. Some sections involve navigating steep terrain. Arriving at Umbwe Camp in the forest, you'll be greeted with a well-deserved hot meal.

Altitude: 2,800 m/9,190 ft - 3,900 m/12,800 ft Distance: 8 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Terrain: Semi-Desert After an early start and breakfast, you'll hike through thinning forest to Giant Erica and Heather. The landscape changes, and you'll climb a ridge offering views of Uhuru Peak. Lunch is followed by a journey through the unique groundsels of Scenario Kilimanjaro, guarding the heights. Barranco Camp is nestled in the valley, and you'll have an afternoon to rest and acclimatize.

Today is a vital acclimatization day at Barranco Camp. It's an opportunity for training, and you'll explore the surroundings and become acquainted with summit weather conditions. You'll spend another night at Barranco Hut.

Altitude: 3,900 m/12,800 ft - 4,550 m/14,930 ft Distance: 13 km Hiking Time: 6-7 hours Terrain: Alpine Desert Hike east over ridges and valleys to join the Mweka Route. Continue climbing up to Barafu Hut, where you'll have a hot lunch. There's no water here, despite the name meaning "ice" in Swahili. Your tent will be set on a narrow ridge, so familiarize yourself with the terrain. Prepare your gear and clothing for the upcoming summit climb, and stay hydrated. After an early dinner, rest for a few hours.

Altitude: 4,550 m/14,930 ft - 5,895 m/19,340 ft - 3,100 m/10,170 ft Distance: 7 km up, 23 km down Hiking Time: 8 hours up, 7-8 hours down Terrain: Scree and seasonal snow Your summit day begins around 11:30 PM. After a light meal, start your 6-hour climb to Stella Point on the crater rim. At sunrise, you'll reach Uhuru Peak, the summit. After the descent back to Barafu Camp and a short rest, hike down to Mweka Camp through varied terrain. Dinner and water will be provided.

Tipping is recommended at the gate once all your gear and porters have safely arrived. Sign the register at Mweka Gate and receive your summit certificate. Then, return to Moshi for a well-deserved shower and a comfortable night's rest.
